Fairphone in turn began manufacturing wireless headphones. The brand does not lose sight of its approach and offers true wireless made from 30% recycled plastic. The battery has also been strengthened to make them durable headphones.

A specialist in ethical and sustainable smartphones, Fairphone no longer wants to limit itself to the world of mobile. The Dutch brand confirms that it will launch its first sustainable headphones on November 1. Simply called True Wireless Stereo (TWS), the new audio accessory stays true to the manufacturer’s line of conduct by opting for a charging case and headphones made from 30% recycled plastic. The company claims to have drawn “Teachings” development and production of its smartphones, as well as its expertise in including fair trade certified gold in the supply chain.

Fairphone praises the autonomy of its headphones, without giving an estimate

The ecological aspect is of particular importance to Fairphone, which wants to offer sustainable headphones. The brand claims to have adapted the charging speed of the case and headphones in order to increase “Considerably” battery life, thus improving “One of the biggest problems” wireless headphones. TWS claim a “Unparalleled autonomy” via a 45mAh block in each earbud and 500mAh in the case. If Fairphone praises the merits of its solution, the manufacturer does not give any estimate of the autonomy of its headphones. A curious decision for headphones that will be able to charge via the USB-C port of the charging case. Note that the Fairphone 3 and 4 use the same charging cable, not included in the box.

Recycled materials and noise reduction

In terms of audio specifics, these headphones have 10 mm dynamic transducers to deliver sound quality “Superior and balanced”, according to the manufacturer. TWS communicate using Bluetooth 5.3 and are likely to support AAC and SBC codecs. This element was not communicated by Fairphone, however, which confirms the presence of an active noise reduction (ANC) system. Now essential, it will give the possibility of filtering unwanted sounds while a transparency mode allows you to reconnect with the outside.

Two microphones are present in each ear to detect ambient noise, specifies the brand. Another handy feature, in-ear detection, stops playback when the user takes off the headphones. Finally, the TWS are IPX4 certified and provide increased splash resistance.
