The keynote of October 18 was an opportunity for Apple to present its new products, including AirPods 3. On the menu for this new version: a new design, increased power and optimized user comfort.
Expected on a firm footing by fans of the Apple brand, the new iterations of the MacBook Pro, HomePod Mini and the new AirPods have revealed their technical sheets. With its headphones, Apple outrageously dominates the audio accessory market. In 2020, out of a total volume of 300 million units of Bluetooth headsets sold, the Cupertino company captured 40% of the market with its famous headphones, according to Canalys. A result that the brand intends to perpetuate with its new models of AirPods.
This 3rd generation succeeds the AirPods 2 released more than 2 years ago, bringing some design changes. If Apple remains faithful to the sleek line of the product that contributes to its success, there is a certain resemblance to the AirPods Pro with a few details. The headset stem is slightly shorter and more massive, but the main change is the appearance of an intuitive pressure sensor, placed on the side, the interaction of which should make it easier for the user to control. AirPods are also stronger with increased resistance to water and sweat (IPX6 standard).

The headphones incorporate a new H1 chip allowing better audio processing, including spatialization which adds a 3D sound rendering thanks to dynamic head tracking. Concretely, the sound experience of the user adapts automatically according to the movements of the head. The additional integration of skin detection sensors allows the headphones to be paused as soon as they are removed from the ears.
Autonomy has been improved and now offers 6 hours of uninterrupted listening, a gain of an additional hour. The case allows 4 full charges for 30 hours of use in total and incorporates the MagSafe wireless charging system. To access all the features, the AirPods 3 must imperatively be associated with the latest version of the Apple system, iOS15 or iPadOS 15. Like the AirPods Pro, they require iOS 13 and abandon the older generations of iPhone or iPad , like the iPhone 6 and 6S.
The AirPods 3 are available to order today for 199 euros and in stores from October 26. Note that the 2nd generation AirPods drop in price and go to 149 euros.
