As Google takes its time to launch Android 12, Samsung is impatient. The manufacturer would like to offer the new version of the OS before the end of the year on its smartphones.
For once, Samsung seems impatient to deploy the One UI 4.0 overlay based on Android 12 on its smartphones. The South Korean manufacturer, which had a reputation for taking its time before deploying new versions of the OS, has evolved its methods to keep its crown in the smartphone market. This year, however, it must come up against Google’s new calendar, which has decided to take its time. The Mountain View firm officially launched the AOSP version of Android 12 on October 4 to allow manufacturers to fine-tune the final details. On the other hand, compatible smartphones such as the Google Pixels or the Galaxy S21 can not yet take advantage of this version.

We will probably have to wait until October 19 and the conference dedicated to the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro to learn more about the intentions of the American giant. Samsung, which will also be holding an Unpacked conference this week, is getting ready and planning to bring Android 12 to its Galaxy devices before the end of the year. This is what the firm says in a message spotted by the TizenHelp site and published on one of its forums. Asked about the current situation, Samsung evokes its collaboration with operators and its desire to offer Android 12 in a stable version “By December at the latest”. The new version of the operating system could land in a few weeks on certain models, such as the Galaxy S21.
Galaxy S21 lineup set to taste Android 12 before 2022
Unlike Google, the manufacturer does not seem to want to fall behind. Last year, Samsung deployed Android 11 in a stable version in December 2020 on the Galaxy S20s. The other models had waited until the start of 2021 to benefit from the major update. While some smartphones are entitled to a beta version of Android 12 with the One UI 4 interface, the Galaxy S21, S21 + and S21 Ultra can be expected to reach the final version before 2022. The Galaxy Unpacked du October 20 could bring new answers.
