Acer is positioned in the range of ultra-short throw laser projectors with this new L811 model. Manufacturers are realizing that individuals do not always have rooms large enough to equip themselves with a home cinema. With this model, Acer offers a solution for small living rooms.
The ultra-short throw
It is quite simply the capacity of a video projector to be able to display a large image while being positioned very close to the support (wall / screen). There are two advantages to using a projector of this type. The first, and its main asset, is better light output. As the equipment is located close to the screen, there is less loss of light and therefore better viewing quality for the user.
The second advantage is purely practical. Thanks to its ultra-short focal length, the video projector can be used even in small configurations of living rooms.
For example, displaying an image 1.80 m diagonally via a conventional video projector requires an average setback of the equipment of about 2.5 meters. An ultra-short throw projector can project the same diagonal for 5 times less recoil.
But beware, even if this type of material has undeniable advantages, it is often much more expensive.
1 billion colors and a 3D image
The Acer laser projector is part of the catalog of ultra-short throw projectors.
It incorporates in its housing a lamp (laser diode) with a lifespan of up to 30,000 hours. IP6X certified, the lamp guarantees high resistance to dust, even in outdoor use. Another advantage of the laser projector is that it can start instantly, unlike a conventional lamp counterpart (mercury) which needs a warm-up time before being able to start the session.
The L811’s projection lens offers a maximum image diagonal of 150 ”(3.81m) and a projection distance between 0.6m and 4.6m. The projected image is of WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and promises a sufficiently clear image thanks to a maximum brightness of 4500 lumens. The projector can support up to 1.07 billion colors depending on the source. Users will be able to enjoy their films and series in Blu-ray 3D since the box is compatible with this technology, provided they are equipped with glasses (sold separately).
The Acer L811 supports 24/7 continuous projection.
Connections and accessories
The user will benefit from VGA, HDMI and Composite video connections as well as two integrated speakers of 10W power. The projector comes with a remote control and a 1.8m long VGA cable. Regarding consumption, laser diodes consume less energy than mercury lamps. This is why the L811 benefits from a reasonable consumption in operation of 430 W.
The Acer projector also integrates a whole range of preloaded applications dedicated to streaming and social media for 100% dematerialized sessions. As with all ultra-short throw projectors, the price is accordingly and the Acer L811 (UL5630) projector will be available in France in November from € 2,599
The end of 2021 is an opportunity for Acer to renew its catalog and offer a whole range of new products, both in products dedicated to gaming and for more family or professional use.
