Realme 8i: the 120 Hz screen at less than 200 euros becomes a reality

Realme has formalized a new, very affordable smartphone. The Realme 8i is equipped with a refreshed screen at 120 Hz and is displayed just under the 200 euros mark.

The Realme brand is making progress in the smartphone market by focusing on the quality / price ratio. This recipe made the reputation of Chinese manufacturers, such as Xiaomi, and the young brand decided to add its own ingredients. Present for the first time in the world’s top 6 smartphone manufacturers according to Counterpoint, Realme is an ambitious challenger. Earlier in the year, the brand had decided to offer 5G in a smartphone at a low price thanks to Realme 8. The firm returns at the end of the year with an 8i version.

The Realme 8i wants to confirm the good form of the manufacturer by betting on its Helio G96 chip signed MediaTek and its screen. The device has a 6.6-inch IPS panel displaying Full HD definition with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It adds 4 or 6 GB of RAM and a quantity of storage of 64 or 128 GB, expandable via a card microSD. The smartphone can also rely on Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE) technology to virtually go from 4 to 7 GB of RAM while eating up storage space. Everything is powered by a 5000 mAh accumulator, compatible with charging at 18 W.

On the photo side, the new representative of the range is equipped with a triple photo module. A main sensor of 50 megapixels (f / 1.8) and supported by two sensors of 2 megapixels each (f / 2.4), one dedicated to macro and the other to portrait. At the front, the company opted for a 16 megapixel camera (f / 2.1). If we compare it to the Realme 8 4G, we observe several changes such as the presence of IPS LCD technology rather than Super AMOLED or the loss of ultra wide angle.

These changes are explained by the brand’s desire to offer a very affordable smartphone. The Realme 8i indeed claims the title of “first smartphone 120 Hz at 199 euros”, an accessible price for a model only 4G. It will indeed cost less than 200 euros for the 4+ 64 GB version and 219 euros for the variant with 128 GB of storage. Pre-orders have started for availability set for October 20.

The C11 updates in a 2021 version still very affordable

On the sidelines of this announcement, the Chinese brand confirmed the arrival of the C11 2021. This entry-level smartphone has a 6.52-inch IPS screen (720 x 1600 pixels) and a Unisoc SoC SC9863A flanked by 2 GB of RAM. A single 8-megapixel camera is present at the front while a 5-megapixel module (f / 2.2) takes place at the front. A 5000 mAh battery completes the exotic technical sheet of a smartphone which is intended to be very affordable. It will be available in November at a price of 109 euros.
