The African Peoples Advocacy (APA) was founded in the United Kingdom in 2008. APA works to provide a platform for the engagement and education of African communities and key stakeholders on topics that are of relevance to African peoples in the UK, Africa and elsewhere. These topics include, but are not restricted to, African development, social justice, race and gender equality, and education.
In order to achieve these objectives, APA aims to operate as an independent thinktank engaging and educating African communities and key stakeholders on topics that are of relevance to African peoples. It undertakes, or plans to undertake research, publications, public campaigns, and debates on the following topics:
- Engagement and education of African communities in the UK, the Diaspora and Africa;
- Race and gender equality in the UK and Africa;
- African development;
- Human rights, social justice, and democracy;
- African culture;
- And any other topics of interest to African communities.

OUR BOARD MEMBERS:
. Don Flynn, BSc (HONS) –Don Flynn has been a Trustee of APA since September 2008, and became its Executive Secretary in December 2009. He is also the Director of the charity Migrants Rights Network, and Chair of the UK Race and Equality Network.
Ms. Goretti Kyomuhendo, MA- Goretti Kyomuhendo became an APA Trustee in May 2011. She is also one of the founding members of the Ugandan Women Writers’ Association and Publishing House FEMRITE, and the founder and director of African Writers Trust.
amed Rashid Hassan, PhD –Mohamed Rashid Hassan became a Trustee of APA in May 2011. He is also Somaliland’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Ola Sholarin, MSc, PhD –Ola Sholarin was a Trustee of APA from September 2008 to May 2011, and its Treasurer from December 2009 to May 2011. He is a Senior Lecturer at Westminster Business School.
Dr. Titi Banjoko -Titi Banjoko is a healthcare professional with extensive experience in international development. She successfully pioneered the formation of AfricaRecruit a programme designed to build capacity in Africa using human capital as the main driver.Our Staff Members:
Ms. Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell, MPhil –Before founding APA in September 2008, Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell worked as UK Co-ordinator of the Centre for Democracy and Development, and for several organisations catering to African communities first in Spain, and subsequently in the UK. She stepped down as a Trustee of APA in March 2010, and has been working as its Executive Director since.
