Telling the Real Story about Global Migration: What Role for Migrant Voices? -SOAS, 9th October 2012

Welcome Reception for African Olympic Teams in Medway -9th July 2012
African Peoples Advocacy (APA) is delighted to have collaborated with Medway Council to organise a Welcome Reception for the Olympic teams of several African countries (Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad, Congo etc) training in Medway for the 2012 Olympics.
This reception, held on 9th July 2012, provided an excellent opportunity for local Medway people to mingle with African athletes, promote greater knowledge of African culture, and foster good relationships between African and other communities.

Book Launch: Everyday Heroes, by Frances Williams
African Peoples Advocacy, ReConnect Africa and the Centre of African Studies were delighted to host the launch of Everyday Heroes on Monday 7th November 2011 at the School of Oriental and African Studies.
This book, by Frances Mensah Williams, is a collection of interviews with sixteen professionals from different careers including law, accountancy, music, publishing, medicine, banking and architecture. In a practical, easy to-read format, the ‘everyday heroes’ talk about what it takes to succeed in their careers, their own influences and the life lessons they have learned along the way.
The event, chaired by Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell, Writer and Executive Director of African Peoples Advocacy, was a huge success.

Launch of Patchwork by Ellen Banda-Aaku
African Peoples Advocacy and the Centre of African Studies are honoured and delighted to invite you to the launch of Patchwork. Submission of Evidence to the House of Lords EU Committee -27th April 2011
APA is thrilled to announce that the receipt of the evidence on a blueprint for a new Western policy towards Africa, submitted by the APA director, Sylvie Aboa-Bradwell, in April 2011, was acknowledged by the UK House of Lords EU Committee on 27th April 2011.
Thus, the ‘Demophile Deal for Africa: Blueprint for a new Western policy towards Africa’, the African Peoples Advocacy April-May 2011 policy brief, which was embargoed until this acknowledgement, is now available.
Success of Our Call for the Respect of the Democratic Will of the People of Cote d’Ivoire
We are delighted that after a long time leading the African Diaspora’s call for the respect of the democratic will of the people of Cote d’Ivoire, we were able to witness how Laurent Gbagbo was ousted from power in April 2011.
We are grateful to all the people who supported our call. We are determined to do everything we can to contribute to peace, reconciliation and economic recovery in Cote d’Ivoire.
